Why I Started This Blog
When I entered my mid-40s, something shifted that I hadn’t expected and nobody around me seemed able to explain. I was eating carefully, staying active, and doing everything I’d always done. My body changed anyway — weight accumulated around my middle in a way it never had before, my sleep fragmented without obvious cause, my energy stopped responding to rest, and my blood pressure crept upward for the first time in my life.
The advice I received was consistently the same: eat less, move more, try harder. I tried harder. It didn’t work. What I needed was a different explanation — one that started with the hormonal reality of midlife, not the assumption that my body should work the same way it had at 35.
Seven Years of Research
I spent the next several years going deep into the peer-reviewed research on perimenopause, estrogen decline, cortisol, insulin resistance, and the specific dietary and lifestyle interventions with the strongest evidence for women in this life stage. I tested these changes methodically — one variable at a time — and paid close attention to what actually shifted.
What I found was both more specific and more hopeful than anything the generic advice had offered. By focusing on hormone-supportive nutrition, strategic strength training, sleep quality, and cortisol management, I was able to normalize my blood pressure, restore stable energy, and significantly reduce the visceral belly fat that had accumulated despite my best efforts. None of it required extreme restriction or punishing workouts.
What This Blog Is
I built LoseFatAfter40Now.com because the information I needed at 44 was scattered across research papers, buried in specialist books, and rarely written specifically for women navigating the hormonal reality of midlife. My goal is to change that.
Every article on this site is grounded in scientific research and real personal experience. I write in plain language because I believe that understanding why something works is what makes it sustainable. I don’t believe in perfection. I believe in practical, consistent habits that fit into the actual life you’re living right now.
If you’re a woman over 40 who is doing everything right and still not seeing the results you expect — this blog is for you. Your body has changed. Your strategy needs to change with it. That’s not a failure. That’s biology, and there’s a clear path through it.
